Something is fascinating out there

Mornings with kittens. Sometimes you’re trying to keep their faces out of your coffee mug, and sometimes they just overwhelm you with cuteness.

Will you accept this rose?

Jackie’s kittens were born during an episode of The Bachelorette, so it was only fitting that we name these kittens after some of our favorites from the Bachelor / Bachelorette family of shows.

The kittens are doing great, climbing over everything, and have just entered what our fellow breeders call “poop week.” That’s when they’ve discovered pooping but haven’t quite figured out how to consistently get it in the box. They’ll have it figured out in a couple of weeks but in the meantime it’s “watch your step and hold your nose.”

Good ventilation and cleaning supplies: Depend on them.

Anyway, here they are! And yes, all of these kittens are reserved.

Boys & Girls in the City

Georgette’s kittens are getting bigger all the time! They are very mobile and just figuring out the litter box. They’re still in the “front legs work and back legs sometimes splay out behind them” stage that is very amusing. Understandably they don’t believe us when we say that we’re laughing with them, not at them. Maybe it’s because they can’t laugh?

Anyway, here they are! We named them after the hosts of on of our favorite shows, Terrace House.

All of these kittens are reserved!

Speedy delivery

Jackie Blue gave birth to five very large kittens tonight! She’s pretty tired but everyone is doing fine. Jackie popped out the first three and VERY quick succession and then we had a longer wait for the last two. Still, we can’t complain about a labor that only lasts a couple of hours (and doesn’t happen at 2:00AM!).

Tired mama!

All of these kittens are reserved.

Afternoon kittens

Georgette gave birth to six squeaky kittens this afternoon. Delivery took about three hours and everyone is fine. Buster was in the next room and we’re sure that he was pacing back and forth with worry. Five of the kittens are black and white just like their dad, and one is solid black. We’ll report on the genders once we can get a better look.

Tired mama!

We’d like to thank Georgette for showing us some consideration and going into labor in the daytime instead of the middle of the night. We’d also like note her exceptional placenta-eating ability. We know it’s normal for new moms to do that, but, wow… she can slurp those things down like nothing. Now she has placenta-breath. Ewww.

All of these kittens are reserved.

Get ready to break out the catnip cigars

Georgette and Buster are expecting their first litter of kittens together! Well, Georgette is expecting something, but Buster is pretty clueless. He’s a sweet boy, but not much in the cause and effect department.

It looks there like five or six in there!  We’ll know for sure in a couple of weeks.

Count the skulls or spines!

Spring is in the air (so we’re told)

Starrynight just hanging out at the cat show!

It’s technically Spring but you wouldn’t know it from looking at the snow outside.  Our girls can sense it, though, and after a quiet winter Georgette and Jackie Blue have gone into heat and have had romantic time with their respective beaus. More news when we’re certain that they are pregnant.

In the meantime we’ve been going to cat shows with our young adult girls who aren’t quite ready to mate yet.We mostly show in TICA, but we took Starrynight to our first CFF show, where she Championed!  She definitely has an outgoing show personality and as she grows and matures we think she’ll do very well in the ring.

Pippi is available!

Update: Pippi has been placed!

Pipipi is a very relaxed 6-year-old girl.  After she gave us five litters we decided that it was time to let her have a peaceful retirement. She is very affectionate and will try to groom your hair if you let her. Maybe she has a future career as a hair stylist?

If you are interested in adopting Pippi please fill out a placement application.

We had joy, we had fun, we had kittens in the sun

Yin and Yang have grown quite a bit after eight weeks and are adjusting well to being with the adult cats. They are hungry little fuzzballs and will push the bigger cats aside when the wet food comes out. In the morning they play and run around but in the afternoon all of the cats seem to take a siesta, and the kittens are no exception. That said, they looked so cute sleeping together that I couldn’t resist waking them up for a picture:

Thanks for waking us from our nap.

Both of these kittens are reserved.

Oh, the just decided to get up and have a snack at the same time as their mother, Fiona:
