I like big cats and I cannot lie…

Okay, she’s not fat. Maybelline is going to give birth in the next week or two.

Let them eat cake!

Rigel earned his Supreme Grand Champion status last spring, but we were finally able to celebrate with the traditional “Supreme Cake” at the cat show in Hartford.  This is probably his last show so he can concentrate on wooing the ladies.

Looking suave as ever.

When he’s not looking suave he’s looking cute.

We’re just showing a disembodied cat head today. Please move along.

Keepin’ clean for the ladies. Rowr.

Me: The camera is not a toy.
Rigel: Yes it is!
Me: The camera is not a toy!
Rigel: YES IT IS!
Me: The camera is a toy.

I am adorable, therefore I am.

You know what they say about cats with big paws.

Big pawprints.

What? What were you thinking? Get your mind out of the gutter!

Tuckered out and dead to the world.

Two red boys are (not) available!

Update: All kittens in this litter are now reserved!

Sorry for the long delay in posting — it’s been a little crazy around here.  While you’ve been waiting Pippi’s litter has been growing by leaps and bounds.  They are some of the liveliest, most interactive kittens we’ve ever had.  And cuddly, too.  I think they get that from their dad, Rigel, who is the ultimate love muffin.

Anyway, we still have two beautiful red boys available.  Take a look!

Spark (boy) reserved:

Ember (boy) reserved:

Blaze (boy) reserved:

Flare (girl) reserved:

Ash (girl) is staying with us to be part of our breeding program!

The other kind of Maine Potatoes

Pippi’s kittens are growing fast and plumping up nicely, as kittens usually do.  As you can see, they are well into what we call “the Potato stage.” That’s a technical term.

Poised and perplexed

Okay, we took some pictures of Finoa’s kittens today and give very different impressions.

One of them loved the camera and was very cooperative:

As for the other… “Deer in the headlights” is more like it.

Which is the boy and which is the girl? Good question!  If I had to guess I’d say the confused one is the boy, but only because Maine Coon boys are dumb and lovable, where Maine Coon girls are usually more intelligent.

We’ll see if I’m right after Marie (Executive In Charge of Determining Kitten Gender, aka The Brains of the Outfit) takes a closer look.

No Drama Mama

Pippi gave birth to five beautiful kittens on Wednesday. Like her first litter she was a couple of days early, but the birth was otherwise not dramatic. That’s how we like it!

Like most kittens they went from birth to the nip in no time flat.

Marie was right. Breeding a red girl with a blue boy does not get you purple kittens. I knew that in my heart, but I can always dream.

Feeding time… again!

X-Ray Vision

Well, we already knew that Pippi is fertile as a turtle, and now we know that Rigel’s swimmers can pull their own weight.  We think Pippi will give birth to five (maybe six) kittens later this week. However, although Pippi is red and Rigel is blue, Marie insists that this will not result in purple kittens.

We are ready to take deposits on this litter, so if you haven’t filled out a placement application yet, now is the time.

Maybe we’ll call them Yin and Yang

Fiona’s kittens are plumping up nicely!

Meanwhile, back at Maybelline’s litter…

Maine Coons: Not at all relaxed, no-sirree.

Bed, Birth, and Beyond

Fiona gave birth to two very large kittens on Monday.  This is her first litter and she surprised us by insisting that she give birth on the bed… and she’s kept the kittens there ever since. We’ve been trying to transition them to the nest but she’s been persistent in moving them back.  We’re working on it.

In the meantime, prepare yourself for kitten cuteness! Don’t say we didn’t warn you!
