Before you scroll down to the pictures of cats and kittens, we’d like to offer a quick word on boys versus girls. People seem to prefer Maine Coon boys. They want the size and the presence. That’s absolutely fine. People want what they want and it wouldn’t be fair to the kitten and them if we didn’t do our best to allow for the right match. However, female Maine Coons are absolutely awesome in their own way:
- It’s true that boys are bigger, but girls get big, too, especially when they are spayed. Most of our girls grow up to be 10-15 pounds (though there have been some both bigger and smaller). That’s still pretty big compared to other breeds.
- In our experience girls are more likely to be lap cats. They form stronger bonds with their people and become extremely devoted companions. Boys tend to be more gregarious and are chill with everyone, but don’t always form such intense bonds.
- Female Maine Coons are smarter. Boys tend to play the dog-like “I’m dumb and I like everyone” card. Maine Coon girls are very friendly as well, but they tend to be more clever and cat-like. Many of our girls play fetch, and we have yet to produce a boy that does so.

Pixel retired from making babies, got spayed, and now is looking for a new forever home. She is six and a half years old. She can be very sweet and we’d love to keep her, but things would get too crowded if she stayed.
Pixel is very much the lap cat, and she will spend hours there if you let her. She generally gets along with other cats, but in larger groups of cats she can get stressed out and be a bit of a bully, so we ideally her new home will have only one or two other cats.
