We took Patootie down to the vet today to get her pre-delivery x-ray. We do this as a precaution so we know how many kittens to expect on the Big Day. It looks like we’re expecting five! (The big dark thing at the top is poop, not a kitten). Seven days to go…

Hello!
This is Pippi, one of the girls from the Nutmeg-Syrano litter. She has joined the family as one of our breeding females (when she’s old enough and we’ve given her that talk about the birds and the bees, the sires and the dams, etc.). In the meantime, we get to enjoy the kitten cuteness.
She’s “Pippi” because her white markings on her front legs look like long stockings… Pippi Longstockings, get it? Well, one of the stockings is shorter than the other, so one of us suggested naming her Slouchy, but that was quickly vetoed.

Seven Names for Seven Kittens
Well we finally gave temporary names to the kittens. Since there are seven of them we named them after the seven dwarves (how original, eh)?
One thing you should know, though. Sneezy doesn’t actually sneeze, Grumpy isn’t actually grumpy, Doc doesn’t actually have a doctorate, and so on. Well, okay, Grumpy looks a little grumpy in his picture, but really he’s a playful, energetic little sweetie. They all are.
All of these kittens are reserved, but we have another litter due the last week in April!
Bashful (girl) reserved
Sneezy (girl) reserved
Doc (boy) reserved
Sleepy (girl) reserved
Grumpy (boy) reserved
Dopey (boy) reserved
Happy (girl) reserved

Out of the nest… maybe

We opened the door to the nest today so the kittens could stretch their wobbly little legs.

They’re maybe a little tentative expanding their horizons beyond the next and into the kitten room. One brave little one decided to take the plunge.

Or maybe Mom has other ideas…

Kittens in motion tend to stay in motion

Okay, I tried taking some fresh kitten pictures tonight. I managed to get this one little lineup shot and then they all started to explore the bed. Sweet freedom away from Nutmeg’s nest was too tempting and they started stretching their legs and making mad dashes for the edge. Eeep!
That’s my long way of saying that I got a lot of blurry pictures of kittens in action, lost track of which kittens I’d taken pictures of, and generally muffed it up. Still, I got a few shots that are at least entertaining.
We’ll get some proper pictures up soon, I promise.

Are you lookin’ at me? Are YOU lookin’ at ME? You ARE?
Okay, cool. Just checking.

No, I will not look into the camera no matter how many things you dangle. The wall is far more interesting than you!

Action Cat!

Oh, sure, take a picture of the moving kitten while I’m sitting back here all still and cute and forlorn-looking. Some great photographer you are.

To the edge! I will not be denied!
